The Design Challenge
Create a three-bedroom, two and a half bath home in the Napa Valley. The building itself needed to be in keeping with the existing agrarian homes and structures in the immediate area. The Owner wanted a comfortable home with space to display her artwork.
The Design Response
The simple forms of the structure relate to the neighboring buildings.
The home has a large open area for living, cooking and dining. The three bedrooms are accessed from the open area by a four-foot wide gallery; a skylight at the end enlivens the space. The gallery is used by the Owner to display portions of her painting and textile collection.
